Beware the silver Honda – the new menace of our time New survey finds that rather than an Audis or a BMW, British people actually find the type of car that commits the most offences is a silver Honda

Stop bashing that BMW, and go easy on the Audi – because it turns out that it’s actually drivers of silver Hondas that are most frequently guilty of irksome behaviour out on Britain’s roads.
That’s according to a new survey, which have been released today, revealing which models of car were most frequently associated with which offences.

The data, compiled by Privilege car insurance, showed that for eight out of the 20 bad habits included, drivers of Hondas were the most frequent offenders.
Honda drivers are the most likely to undertake, to pull out in front of other drivers, to take up too much road space, to fail to indicate, to use a mobile phone without a hands-free kit, to fail to observe a right-of-way, to drive too slow, and even to drive through puddles and splash pedestrians, according to the data.
That’s in stark contrast to the public’s perception, which places BMW drivers as the worst on the road, with one in three drivers naming them as the worst for annoying other road users.
In fact, BMW drivers only topped the charts in two of the 20 categories: driving across two lanes, and cutting corners when turning.
Meanwhile, Audi drivers – also oft-maligned – came top in just two areas, too: tailgating, and pulling out too slowly from junctions.
The survey also revealed that drivers feel black cars are the most irritating, although around half of those who nominated Hondas as the worst drivers said that silver Hondas were the worst-behaved.
Seat owners were found to be the worst “DWACs” – or “drivers without a conscience” – with an astonishing 54 per cent of them claiming not to care if their actions annoyed other drivers.
Charlotte Fielding, Head of Privilege car insurance, said: “This is a light-hearted look at Britain’s roads, but it does have a serious message – inconsiderate and careless driving are two of the main causes of accidents, so hopefully this report will make people think about whether their driving will have a negative impact on other road users.
“A great deal of careless driving is down to people being tired at the wheel or being in a rush, so all motorists should remember to take breaks and drive at a safe speed. It’s better to get there safely than not at all, or perhaps worse still, injure another road user in the process.”
